Car doesn't work when on the ground
Hello everybody,
I started the hobby a couple months back, but I haven't really been able to run my cars since it's been raining everyday. I bought a used e-revo and ran it once but got a big crash that lead to replacing a lot of parts. I put everything back together and tried to see if the car works. So when I lift the car and press the trigger everything works just fine, all 4 wheels are turning but as soon as I put the car on the ground the car doesn't move. It hiccups front and moves a bit backwards after  I also can't roll the car by hand as if there was a handbrake on the car, but if I roll the car with only the front or back wheels on the ground, it rolls. I am totally lost on what I should do, and I would really appreciate some help :) Thanks in advance :) |
check the slipper clutch for tightness. if that dosnt fix it...
pull all the electronics from the car, and test them. then test the chassis, without all the electronics as well. |
What all did you have to replace? Kinda sounds like something might be wrong with the motor. Is it a brushless?
|
Sounds like the center diff or transmis is locked did you check it?
|
If you roll the truck forward with the front wheels on the ground are the back wheels spinning backwards ?
|
Take the pinion gear off and verify the drivetrain is free and smooth.
With the pinion gear off verify the motor spins up normal. Hold the spur gear with your thumb and try to force the tires to spin (see if the slipper is loose). Once you have done this you will hopefully have found the issue to address so you can get it working again. |
Sounds like a bad esc

I'm not familiar with the E-Revo. Is is possible to put the front or rear diff in with the ring gear on the wrong side of the pinion gear. Sounds to me that the front and rear could be trying to go in opposite directions fighting each other. This would explain why it won't roll with all 4 tires on the ground and will roll with just the front or rear tires on the ground.
Like Hotrod87 said check the direction the rear wheels spin when you roll it with just the front wheels on the ground. They should all go the same direction. if not flip over a diff. If it runs backward after doing that, flip over both diffs. |
Thank you all very much for the answers
I did just try the easiest test of rolling the car with only 2 wheels on the ground and indeed they are rolling in the opposite direction. So I should flip over the diff? I had to take off the entire front part of the truck, so I guess I could have put the diff in the wrong direction??  Thanks so much !! |

Hej I don't know much about the E-REVO is it even physical possible to put the diff in flipped the wrong way? If it is possible then flip the front diff. Sounds like you have figured out the problem.

That's the thing I am not sure if it's even possible and it really is a tedious process of accessing the diff on this car.
I don't know if is possible to see on this exploded view? http://traxxas.com/explodedviews/5603-Front-Assembly |

Ok I just wanted to get confirmation before starting the disassembly !
Thanks so much, I'll edit the post if it works ! |
It is possible. Here is a post that confirms it.
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...o-problem.html Have fun wrenching and make note that the arrow on the diff case points up. |
