Default Do I need to replace my Optima Mid transmission?

I'm restoring an old Kyosho Optima Mid and have all new electronics. I'm going to put a new motor in it. I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my transmission and if so, what will work. Is there anything I can do to get the current transmission ready?

BTW - Not going to race this, just want to drive it around a little.

No reason it would fail as long as it is good condition to begin with. Take it apart, clean it, re-grease it and check for missing teeth on the gears, if all is well you will have no problems.

I'm not entirely sure, but if you are putting brushless into a car which had a standard motor, you might have to change the gearing setup so you don't overload the gearbox. again, i'm not sure so check with someone more experienced. if it's just a standard brushed motor you shouldn't have any problems, I grease my gearbox with silver grease works very well can help prevent gearbox wear. you only need a smudge on the gears. it is best not to drive older rc's too hard because you can strip gears etc which are hard to find

just some ideas-hope everything goes well!
