Tell the wife that your kid needs a full on nitro 8th scale. Then you run it until he's old enough to handle it. That is way to do r/c.

No one mentioned the Traxxas Rustler---Would that not be a good choice---I also have a 4 year old grandson and 8 yr grandaughter and neither have ever touched anything rc---Reason I asked is I have seen several used for about $75-80---But if they are not a good choice then $ wasted.

Rustlers are good... i have owned 3 of them, and turned them into Low Center Gravity Slashes to race with. They are exactly the same as the slash (slightly shorter chassis).

The biggest advantage to the slash is the bumpers front and back and the body covers all wheels to minimise damage.
