Default Newbie Question: Motors

Hope nobody kills me for asking this, but here it goes....

...does the motor size number (ex: 180, 300, 540, etc) refer to the diameter of the motor in milimetres?

im not sure about 180 or the 300 motor but the 540 motor are the typical motors all the 1/10's use and then theres 550 motors which are for e-maxxs and bigger trucks. The 180 and 300 are prolly for like the 1/18 and the mini t not to sure though

nick 51 is right 540 is the size of a motor in a 1/10th scale car

and 550 motors i think have longer shafts and they are for emaxxs and 180 and 300 size motors are for micro cars

Is it possible to tell the number rating of the motor by its size?
