Default Rookie needs advice

Hi everyone

Iv just purchased a maverick strada xb evo s (It hasnt arrived yet)
This will be my first ever RC car
Im currently looking on ebay for battery packs to get the best performance and run time from my RC car, but there are so many im just completely baffled.

I dont know if i should get a 7.2v or a 7.4v

Plus what is mAh?
And what is the c number on the end??

For example 7.4v 5000mAh 20c
What does all this mean??
And what is best for the model i have purchased.

Sorry if these sound like stupid questions but if anyone can give me
any advice it would be massivly apprechiated

Thank you

Paul

mAh is abbrev for milliamp-hours and if you think fuel tank, the bigger the mAh, the longer the run time. Larger mAh batteries is like using a bigger fuel tank.

The C number is the discharge rating, the 2S 5000mAh 20C lipo is theoretically able to discharge 5000/1000x 20 = 100amps. Its a way of comparing current producing capabilities of diff lipo batts. It depends on both mAh and the C rating.

7.2v is the nominal voltage of a NiMh (nickle metal hydride) type batter and 7.4v is the nominal voltage of a 2 cell lipo battery (2S). Lipos are a bit diff and require a charger that has correct lipo charging protocol. Fortunately, most todays' chargers come with a lipo balancing charge mode. Take a few min and acquaint yourself with lipos - care, charging and info -

If your new to LiPo batteries, I recommend reading the article at http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-lipo-batteries.html

It can get a little technical, but it is the best guide I have read so far
