Default Thunder AC6 charging

I just got a Thunder AC6 charger and I want to make sure I am charging my Nimh batteries right. I have 2 batteries, a Traxxas 8.4 7cell 3000mah and a Dynamite 804 7cell 3300mah. I am using the auto feature to charge them. It shows charging at 5amps, and fluctuating around 9 to 11 volts. is this right? the batteries get very warm. I am new to all of this so any info will help.

thats correct, nimh do get warm normally.. I would charge at 4 amps though.. you might want to start researching LiPo battery's for the future.

Unless those are new batts, you can get a better charge using manual, charge at 3amps and 3.3 for starters with the peak sensitivity as low as it will go (think this is limited to 5mv/cell) and see hot hot they get when they peak. They should be hot since NiMh peaks at ~120F, but not hotter.

If they are cool, you can start inching the charge rate up - I charge my 4000mah NiMhs at 5amps, you should be able to get to 4amps at least with the 3300mah ones.
