Default Stock slash class

I am new to racing and just bought a slash 2wd to race in the stock class, I have a quesion on batteries, the 5000 to 5500 50C lipos that I observed most guys using are $100 to 140. I dont have that kind of money to spend on batteries. Can I still be competitive using a 3000 to 4000 50C or 60C battery at half the price?

Thanks, Rick

Well I'm not sure where you can get lipos at half that price but it would be fine if you can. Go for it.

I meant that the batteries with 3200 to 4000 mah 40C or 50C were close to $50 to $60 versus the 100 to 140 range.

I noticed you are going to be running that slash in "STOCK CLASS". I obviously dont know what your stock rules are but a lot of stock class rules have like 17.5 BL motor regulations on them and I dont know many BL motors that need a 50-60c battery. You might could lower the C rating and get cheaper batteries.

My slash is running a novak ballistic 17.5 and I only run 2s 3700mah 25c. And I run 5min heats and 10min mains. I am able to recharge the same battery in between heats with no problem.

In your case I would get a 5000 mah pack with a lower c rating. Chances are you wont be able to use all of it anyways running in the stock class.

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=14327

here is a 5000mah 30c. This should run the slash in stock class no problem.
You might be able to run a little low C rating but without knowing what power plant you are using I dont want to recommend anything lower.

I assume you have the xl5 stock ESC. and the specs for it are.
SPECS: On Resistance Forward: 0.007 Ohms
On Resistance Reverse: 0.014 Ohms
Peak Current-Fwd/Rev: 100A/60A
Braking Current: 60A
Continous Current: 14A
BEC Voltage: 6.0V DC
BEC Current: 1A
Power Wire: 14AWG/ 5"
Input Harness Type: 26AWG/ 9"
Transistor Type: MOSFET
PWM Frequency: 1600Hz
Thermal Protection: Thermal Shutdown
Single Button Setup: Yes
Motor Limit: 15T (540 Size), 12T (550 Size)
Input Voltage: 4-8 Cells (4.8 to 9.6V DC)
Weight: 3.07oz (87g)

Says the peak current is 100A with continuous of 14A. So if you wanted to run 5000mah and 30C thats a max current draw of 150A. (30x5=150)
With that said a 20C 5000mah would be max draw of 100A which should be enough but it might heat up the battery so to be on the safe side I would run no less than 25C.And that would give you max draw of 125A on a 5000mah at 25C.( 5x25=125 )
