i just got a new charger too. its the mystery b6. its from China and i wasn't paying attention when i got it. there's a voltage option. I'm not sure but i put it on 1.2 because its 8.4 and there's 7 cells. butwhen i charged the battery, it charged up to 40 mins and kept going. is that safe?

As long as the battery is not getting too hot to hold, it should be OK. Its hard to tell what you're doing with it as far as the charge. Charger prob has an auto option for NiMh and that may take a while since it varies the charge current versus a manual charge at a user input current.

These chargers usually have a user setup mode that will let you set a capacity cutoff, you might try setting that at your pack capacity - that should terminate charge if the NiMh peak detection doesn't terminate for whatever reason.

Good batteries but about three times more than you need to spend.

The VXL can't handle 3s. If you want speed get the 8.5 combo from Hobbyking, it can handle a 3s. I use it in my B4, it's now a dragster because it's waaaay too fast for any track.

The SPC pack is awesome, plus it includes a real connector and a warranty. Unless you are only going to buy multiple packs, the SPC price is very close to the HKs once you figure in shipping and a connector.

Yes, the VXL system can handle 3S lipo.
