Default Pull start question:

My friend just got a new R/C car with a pull start and we just did one tank of gas for the break in today. When we tried to start it up the second time the pull start cord was a lot harder to pull becuase it seemed like it was catching. Is this normal, or is their a way to fix it? Thanks.

when you are doing the breaking in and the motor is shut-off make sure that the piston is on the bottom of the stroke while it cools instead of the top.

Hi,

A hard to pull pull start may be caused by:

1. Vapor lock

2. Engine too hot (usually on restarting)

3. Engine is flooded (usually on starting for the first time).

Hope this helps.

Macros is right check to make sure the pistion is at BDC or Bottom Dead center if it is at TDC(Top Dead Center) it will be hard to pull because the sleeve is tapered to the top to increase compression and when it cools the sleeve expands and contracts more than the piston catching it.
