Default Stock: Rebuildable vs Non-rebuildable

Hi guys,

New to ground-based R/C, but reasonably experienced with R/C gliding.

Just wondering what are the pro's and con's of rebuildable stock motors vs non-rebuildable stock motors.

Do they only keep non-rebuildables around for competition handout purposes?

the nonrebuilable ones you can't take apart to rebuild. Were as for example you run the Trinity Cobalt stock motor you can take apart and replace the brushes and cut the comm.

Yep, I understand that much already.

But no other differences except perhaps price?

Each brand is good and bad. And some are rpm motors and other are high torque motors. So also gearing plays a role.

I have noticed the older non rebuildable stock motors sometimes have very hard brushes in them.

I think this is because they are aimed at being used for leisure, more than racing.

It would be kinda crazy to burn up soft brushes and not be able to cut the commutator easily.
