Default Please help. Battery charger problems.

I just recieved my electric RTR Rustler and it didnt take me long to realize I didnt have the right type of battery charger. I have a Team Orion 3300 NiMH pack and apparently the Tower Hobbies charger that I ordered only charges Nickel Cadmium packs. So now I'm looking for a very cheap NiCad/NIMH charger and was wondering if this one :

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...p?&I=LXHJB5&P=0

would suit my needs. The only thing that worries me about this one is that it says DC only. I'm new to R/C and all electronics in general so I'm really not sure what that means. I know the power in a wall outlet is AC so does this mean I cant charge it in my house? Anyway, If this charger wont work for me a suggestion to a low price one would be great!

Its made by a well known battery charger manufacturer. Good luck.

The link did not work - but I suspect that you are talking about one of the DuraTrax DC peak charger.

Yes if it say's DC only you will need to plug it into a 12V power supply. Then you will need to buy a 120V to 12V AC to DC adapator to plug it into your wall, and by that point you might as well buy a charger that runs off of 120V AC anyway.

For what you are doing buy about any AC/DC peak charger that tells it does NIMH and NICD

I went with a duratrax intellipeack AC/DC twin pulse. It does two packs at once (or just one). I got it at my local store last month for $65. It sounds like $65 is more than you were expecting, but this charger will work expecialy if someday you upgrade and get into trucks that take two packs.

If you have a local shop be sure to check them out, I find my local shops have things usualy cheaper than the online places.

I would check the following ones out.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUF45&P=7

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLCJ6&P=7

https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...=ns&pn=DYN4053

I would get something that at least will go around 5 amps or higher and adjustable delta peak cut off - if not you wont get teh most out of the packs and without delta peaks you could burn the pack up.

Depends on what you want to spend. Lots of great deals on used chargers on the board and others.

See ya later,

mc
