Questions?? Higher Kv faster or Lower Kv faster?

Okay in my buggy I am running a 1800kv sensorless motor, is it faster than my Truggy motor which is 2200Kv sensored motor? Or is it the other way around?

The higher the KV the faster.

"Kv" means revolutions-per-minute per volt.

So higher is faster per volt, but with the big disclaimer that you'll potentially be using a higher voltage battery with a lower Kv motor which may end up being (theoretically) faster overall.

E.G. Standard 2S 7.4 volt battery with a 2200Kv motor ends up being 7.4*2200 = 16,280 revolutions per minute (theoretically according to the manufacturer).
Whereas a 4S battery will have 14.8 volts, and might be used with a "slower" 1600Kv motor, however that ends up being 14.8 * 1600 = 23,680 revolutions per minute

Hence why "slower" lower Kv can sometimes be faster, which I suspect is what may have been confusing you in the first place. It's cos the inputs are different.

It means the motor is faster per volt. it doesn't necessarily mean the truck will have a higher top speed. They can be geared differently or the higher KV may not have enough torque to actually reach the full theoretical top speed.
The other issue is the definition of "faster". When people say "faster" it could mean different things. It could be top speed, acceleration or time around a track / between two points (like drag racing).

In this case there is not much difference if using the same voltage. Gearing and voltage will affect top speed. But if you want to go faster then up the KV or voltage.

... or change the gearing. Lower KV motors will have more torque and can potentially reach higher speeds with taller gearing. A faster spinning motor isn't always the answer.

and once again... what is OP's definition of "faster"? Top speed? Acceleration? Lowest time on a NP Drag strip? Lowest lap time on a race track?

I just felt like I wasn't keeping up with other racers. So I just went ahead and bought a 2200Kv and a 2650Kv motor (from China) so I will be switching out probably to the 2650Kv but the Tekno manual doesn't list that size motor so I wouldn't know gearing so I will drop in the 2200Kv because I have the pinion gear but bought a Tekno one cause I know they work.
