Wheel and Tire info for Noob
Well just starting out in Electric TC racing with a Tamiya TT01 and now looking for replacment wheel and tires for the kit ones that with the car.
Looking around there seem to be two sizes of wheels (24mm and 26mm) for 1/10th scale cars, but no one seems to give widths of tires. So would like to check if there are two sizes of tires, or if there is only one size that stretches/compresses to fit on either sized rim.
I would also like to get some feedback on brands (currently looking at either Sorex and Speedmine white dish style wheels) as I've heard that some are very brittle and can crack easily when you hit the boards/rails?

Don't worry about the width. You use 24MM tires unless somewhere along the way somebody swapped the car to 26MM.
What tires were you planning on running?

So is 24mm width standard race width for electric TC, as my TT01 came with 26mm rims (also checked tamiya site and it seems TT01 and TL01 come with 26, but everything else comes with 24mm wheels).
And still a little confused with tyres. Do you need to specify the width of tire or does the same tyre fit on 24 and 26mm rims?
As for compounds looking at 32r's with medium B inserts. Track has a asphaltic concrete surface (old tennis court) that's usually also got a thin layer of dust on it and heard that most ppl are running 28's and 32's (though some go to softer 24's).

I think hes carpet racing, in which foams would be hopeless.

yeah racing in NSW and on concrete (not carpet).
Starting out with racing in 540 class (only silver cans allowed) and from what I could see of the other cars in the class they're all running rubber.
Also have a preference for Rubber as they seem a little cheaper and more durable, and don't think the added grip will really benefit me yet in the slow 540 class and noob driving skills.
So do I need to specify width for tire or is it the same tire for both wheel widths?

try a set of take off 27's with a medium insert (the stock ones) they grip pretty well and last forever in 540 - also the tyre used at most big race meets so you can save some $$ not HAVEing to buy a new set
im pretty sure the tyres are the same???? and you just need 24mm rims

If your like racing in an only tamiya parts and stuff race get those renforced slick tires last very long.
