Help Identifying my R/C

Hi in my late teens I purchased a Tamiya R/C car for general use since I had and interest in R/C. I used it around my property/street and parks etc.
Then it sat on my shelf as a display.
I am looking to get it going again for some nostalgia and I still have an interest in R/C, so I need help in identifying the model, and what upgrades it may have.
I can tell the ESC might need replacing since there are 2 wires that have come out. I also don't think I should try charge/use the NiCad battery. What should I replace it with?
Since I can't post pictures yet: I updated my profile with an album of pictures of the Tamiya model. Hopefully someone can identify it,

That's a nice RC. Have you thought about starting out with a new kit or RTR first to get familiar with the latest tech before bringing your vintage RC back to life? I think it can be cool to resto-mod an old RC to see it running back on the street, but also there is something to be said about keeping something as it was back in the day. Either way, good luck!
