OK, before you say it i will be the first to admit it. I did something dumb I bought a blade 400 and I have never had a heli or a plane. It was a great deal $150 for dx61 rtr heli alumin upgrades and spares couldnt resist. Now I need to learn how to fly the dang thing. Whats a good flight sim to learn on. Thanks for your help.

I've never used this, but you can't beat the price! Just choose the version you need.

You have several choices of RC flight simulators (airplanes/helicopters).

FMS (Free) - http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html
ClearView (Free demo) - http://rcflightsim.com/
HeliSimRC (Free) - http://www.marksfiles.net/HeliSimRC/
RealFlight - http://knifeedge.com/
FS One - http://fsone.com/
Reflex XTR - http://www.rc-sim.de/cms/index.php/en/

If you choose FMS, here are some links to model pages:

http://gunnerson.homestead.com/files/fms_models.htm
http://www.jim-flint.com/fms/index2.html
http://rcp.web.infoseek.co.jp/fms_myPlane_e.html

Good luck,

Vas

I didn't care for the heli sim on RF (3.5) at all. I can fly a rc heli, but the heli in the RF sim - never could.

I'm using RF though for training on a plane and it seems to be pretty good. Time will tell when I try the real thing.

FS one is a great sim also, and it's only $100. Plus it is very realistic. I have found that the RealFlight series to be a little to easy to fly compared to the real thing.

I am going to say aerofly, still my favorite, skip fsone if you are serious about learning to fly anything. clearview and reflex are good, realflight is an overadvertised videogame.

realflight G-5 you can adjust everything wind, sun, it even has flight instructors. Online fiying with other people on rainy days and download free planes and helis at knife edge. well at least I think it's the best flight sim. :

I have the blade 400 also, and i use real flight G4 and like it a lot. the blade 400 if set up correctly can fly very good out of the box.

there are a lot of heli fliers in your area, you should check out helifreak.com and all things that fly.com, one of the hosts is from your area and he could help you find flying fields near you and im sure someone there would make sure its air ready and give you some tips.

i can help to ive had the 400 for over a year.

also check to see if the tx is one that has the recal on it before flying, horizionhobby.com and go to support and find the recal on the dx6i.

That was not a "stock" plane so to speak. Go over to

http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/index.php?

ANs look around. You can download other planes and upload them to RF. I'm guessing thats what you were looking at. Suspect something similar for teh airports too, but don't know how that would work. Ask over there, they're the ones that wrote RF.....

You should check out Phoenix rc flight sim. You use your Dx6i radio with it so you can still use all of your mixes with the radio and it will feel the same when you go fly for real. My L.H.S. sells it for $129. Here's the link: http://www.phoenix-sim.com/news.htm
Download the Demo and check it out for yourself.

Horizon just had an ad for 2.0 in there latest magazine. Looked interesting, but Horizons last sim (fsone) was not very good and used alot of computer. hopefully it is not just an updated fsone.
