Does anyone use a Spektrum radio on traxxas spartan?
I have a traxxas spartan and I am trying to link up a dx3r pro radio and sr 3100 rx. It seems like there is a throttle neutral issue. Binds and links up and then just blinks green when throttle is in neutral. Full throttle it goes to programming mode. Full brake light goes off. End points are set and everything should be good to go. Any suggestions? Thanks

So you went from an m12 to spektrum? Whoa you're not going to be happy.... Hope you still have the m12... Your problem is something minor. I don't know much about spektrum but I doubt a marine receiver will solve your problem. Something is not calibrated or trimmed right...

Only if he doesn't need a range any more than about 150 feet! Seriously, I saw two boats lose contact of theirs in that short of a distance. Your receiver isn't a Spektrum and they just don't pick up the signal well on water, that's why they had to come out with the Marine version.

I've driven my boating bud's boat with a Spektrum and Marine RX, I really liked the control that I had with it. I also had to do the acid test when I had it out by running it way out on the lake until where I could barely see it and everything was solid. Had it have the stock RX in, I wouldn't have driven it at all.
I know that this doesn't answer the original question but I wouldn't try taking it out with that RX installed unless you like chasing boats across the lake.

You can run a old AM radio or an FM radio on water no problems but with a spectrum radio at 2.4 GHz and PCM modulation you can get interference off the water. You may use a regular receiver for weeks but one choppy day it may head full speed into the rocky bank. Spectrum marine receivers have two antennas to dual receive the signals and they have to match before it recognizes the command 2.4 billion times a second so it seems constant. My boats are worth more than the receiver.
PS I run a DX3R pro also.
to your original question make sure you start to calibrate the radio with all the travels at 100% adjust after calibration if you need them reduced. also dual rates at 100% if problem continues turn frequency down from 5ms to 11ms. Good luck!

It's not just marine applications. The SR3100 rx is simply a poor receiver. The SR3300T is even worse. Both have horrible range, even in cars. I've had my RC8.2e just take off in my neighbor hood only about 200 ft away. The SR3300T I have in my brushless converted Revo looses signal even closer than that. I use OrangeRX GR300 receivers in most of my cars now. Maybe it's the DSM2 or maybe they are just better receivers. Kineticracing, which is an online RC boat component retailer, sells it and other "ground" receivers. Aquacraft equips some of there RTR fast boats with a ground receivers, e.g. Tactic TR324. I'm going to try in a GR300 in my modified ZigZag Racer first. If all goes well, I'll use one in my Revolt.
