I started talking to my uncle and he said for my first boat I shouldn't spend too much and all that stuff. I agree and kept looking online for something around 300-400 area that rip the waters. My friend reminded me of the HobbyKing website. As I went through the site and looked at the products they had available his is everand priced everything up. I would like to list everything and see what your advice would be and see if I am missing anything too. So far this is everything off that website if you know of other sites that have a product better in quality for a good price please list as well.

The genesis is a great boat to run but will take some changes before running if you want it to last. Most people fiberglass in the mount area and the seams better before running it since they are prone to cracking after not much run time.
For more info PM and I can let you know all about some of the other options. They make more then just that version of that hull. There is an American company version as well! I have a Carbon fiber version from them it is a awesome piece and you can get those for almost the same as the hobbyking version and it is stronger right out the gate.

I like the Pursuit mono from HK and the Spartan.
At least with the Spatan you will have good warranty support, HK are really bad for support and most, not all, of their boats are run once and upgrade.

I have a V1 Spartan. My electronics fried well after my warranty period ended, and Traxxas still replaced them for free. I got the Castle electronics in return, and haven't had a problem since. Granted, I haven't had my boat in the water since October. We'll see in a couple weeks if I'm still OK. I make sure I grease my drive shaft after every run and haven't had any issues with the drive line that others had. If you get one now, you'll get the V2 hull, and that's supposed to be a much more stable hull. As long as you take care of it, you shouldn't have problems. And if you do, Traxxas will stand behind it.

had a first run spartan, I upgraded the cooling quite a bit, but ran it stock otherwise with great results.. I made a new stuffing tube and used better teflon lining, and added a boca thrust washer, ran on 5s and it was about matched to my buddies nitro hydros.. I used two 5s packs in parallel and got similar runtimes to their boats, but it ran pretty wet.
6s woulda made it ballistic..
I was happy with it and would recommend it, but I would also say that you should look at the Aquacraft UL1 hydro.. stupid fast and pretty inexpensive.. you can get it for 299 at OSE, and they have the upgrade cooling jacket there as well..
Boats are a blast.. I have a mini thunder, a miss vegas deuce, and I just ordered all the stuff to put together a gas hydro.. funding that was the only reason I let go of the spartan.
