Is it possible to overpower a boat so much that both escs catch fire ? Went from 2 3676 2200 motors to 2 4292 2200 motors using same battery and props with no previous problems

I would hope they would go into thermal shutdown before they burst into flame but you never know. Are you speculating or did this happen to you?

No this happened.i was looking for more speed.in hindsight it sounded like it was reving to high but they advertised 80,000 rpm so I'm not sure

Over reving sounds like a prop diameter/pitch problem.
Sounds like you need to get your motor/esc/prop matched up.
How bad did it burn the boat?

Pretty much just melted the hatch,it was pretty close to shore.thing is I used same props and batteries with smaller motors and never had a problem (42mm hi rake) with 2 150amp escs,2 8000mah 100c 6s batteries

Don't know what kind of boat you're running, but check out RCBoatBitz. He tests everything and makes sure his upgrades are spec'd for the boat. Offshore Electrics are good too.
