Default HobbyWing 8.5t temp issues

I recently brought a brand new HW XR10Pro Esc and 8.5t V10 Gen2 motor combo for my Associated SC5M 2wd truck. I'm currently racing an indoor offroad ozite carpet track that is small with high grip where hot lap times avg around high 9's to low 10 seconds. Prior to this 2 pole motor I ran a Maclan 3500kv 4 pole 550 can and a Castle 3800kv 540 can 4 pole. While I already like the smoothness of the 8.5t the first thing I noticed was the lack of low end and low rpm torque or punch. The 2nd thing I noticed was the higher than I am used to temps. The stock 4 gear SC5M tranny is a 2.60:1 and I started with a 17/84 gearing. I'm running the factory set HW 30° can timing in blinky or zero timing mode profile with the ESC fan always running. No drag brake and 100% linear brakes on the ESC. I have the wifi box for telemetry and changes via my android cell phone so I'm able to look back at the data from each run. Temps according to the HW telemetry initially showed ESC 140-150°F and Motor at 180°F+. So I switched to a 26/84 to put me closer to the factory suggested baseline 8.5-9.0 final drive ratio and motor temps shot up to 220-240°. I also have a Duratrax infrared handheld temp eader that showed my temps about 30°+ lower when read just above the timing cap on the can. So then I went back to an 18/84 and temps on the motor ran about 150°F according to the telemetry so just for giggles I added 20° ESC boost from 500rpm-32,000rpm and 10° turbo with instant enagement. Temps shot back up to 180-220° on the motor and about 140-140° on the ESC. Which should I pay more attention to, the Duratrax handheld temp gauge or the telemetry data? And what is a good target temp to look for on the esc and motor? HW states this motor is designed around capabilities of 200°F but everything I seem to be reading across the board with all motors is guys saying 160°F+ is bad and most run around 130-140°F which is all I ever saw out of my 4 pole Maclan and Castle motors. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks

Add a fan to help disapate the heat. I run ozite with my Pro4 SCT and 4wd buggy. My SCT has 4.5T Novak Ballistic 550 motor and the XB4 has 6.5T HW V10 Gen 2. I use fans on both to help keep temps down. Also, check your slipper. It may be slipping too much causing heat issues as well...

Thanks man. Dropped to a 16/84 and temps on the motor were around 140°F before I tried adding sboit 20° boost on the esc and it shot right back up to around 180°. I actually pulled the diff out to look it over and cleaned/regreased everything reassembly si I guess I just need to het back to the track and work on adjusting it. Everything I've owned up until this SC5M has had a gear diff so where is a good place to start with setting it up?
