Default Castle ESC and Lipo question

I have a 8ight-T E 3.0 and just bought a Poseidon 1527 (1500kV/2000w continuous) motor. I'm going to be running it on 6S.

I have a Mamba Monster 2 ESC. Will that work with that motor?

If so will this 6S work?

Yes it will. I would not recommend that battery though, they're not made for big power setups. I would recommend the Turnigy Graphene 6S 5000mah 65C, it will handle big power with ease.

After picking Danny's brain at SMC (thanks Danny if you're reading this) I went with the 4500 6S lipo in my original post. He said it will be fine. I've ran SMC batteries in the past and still do and never had any issues.

I'll update once I get a few runs in. I'm not looking for speed runs, just a good bashing setup.

Thanks for the help 0verkill!!

The P1527 pulls a lot more amps than a C1515. You want a battery that can handle a big load and run cool, the Turnigy Graphene is the best in the business in that regard. Hope it works for you.

I gave him the exact specs from Poseidons site and he said I'll be fine.

We shall see.

0verkill,

I'll be running in a little sand so could I just use duct tape to cover the motor holes?

I would not recommend covering them like that unless they really do run extremely cool. I would use maybe a shroud or something over the chassis for sand bashing. I feel like sealing those holes could spell disaster. But I've also never run one of those behemoths.

After posting I emailed Poseidon and they said using duct tape is fine. They said running in a little dust is fine but if you run in sand and or dirt to cover the holes.

I wish they had they had an option for without holes.

I would use a ace bandage/pantyhose before using tape.

I've used velcro to cover the vents, works great.

I ended up buying some stainless steel woven mesh. The hole openings are .03mm, that should work great.

PoseidonRC is quick. I paid Monday and received today. Can't ask for better service.

The motor itself fits nicely. I was worried with it being so long that it might stress the motor mount but it feels very solid. Two things I wish Poseidon would do in the future;

1.) Offer a sealed motor version. Vented is a nice feature for on-road speed runs but not so much for off-road bashing running.
2.) Use M4 motor mount screws.

Just got a shipping notice from SMC a few mintues ago. Hopefully I can run this bad boy Saturday!

Looks good. With that mount you have room for 3-4 fans or 2 big ones
