Receiver and servo wire burned
Hi everyone, my savage x battery caught on fire and melted the wires. I bought new wire and connectors but I can't find a good way to crimp the connectors on. I know that there is a crimp tool but is there a way to do it without one? I already got the wires replaced too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do a lot of my own custom servo leads and to answer your question, not really. IF you're REALLY good with a tiny needle nose pliers you MIGHT get the ends crimped to where they will work and slide into the servo plug, but I would say it's unlikely.

MIP makes a crimp tool for like 20 bucks or so. Some people say it sucks, but I've used mine with zero problems.

You'll find plenty of links associated with those vids on good crimpers and how too. |

Cheap option: some people don't care for this tool, but I find it to work just fine. http://www.hansenhobbies.com/products/connectors/tools/crimp_ec/ More expensive option: these crimpers ratchet down and will not open until the crimp is completed. I have a pair of these for larger connectors and they work very well. http://www.hansenhobbies.com/products/connectors/tools/crimp_dx/ |
Got mine from Amazon for 23$. Love it. (HT-225D)

Steel Grip 4 Way Electrical Crimping Tool - Bolt & Wire Cutters & Crimpers - Ace Hardware
I actually have this one. Would it work? I just want something local because it gives me something to do. |

I'll try that tomorrow
