Cool - good to know.

I've sent this question to support a Tekin but thought I would ask the experts here while I wait for a reply.

What is the default 'Timing' setting on the Gen3 for a Tekin HDpro4 4300 (17/40 grear) and the HD 4600 (16/40) on my Tekno SCT410.3?
I was once told to use either Custom 1 or Custom 2 for a 4-pole motor.
Thanks

Custom 1 and Custom 2 on the Rx8 are both D2 dual mode. There's no difference by default. As long as you're using an Rx8, the timing profiles 1 or 2 are perfect.

Thank you

Randy, just to confirm you meant either Custom 1 or Custom 2 settings? Pick one and no need to adjust the timing or boost settings in the custom settings?

Randy_Pike 06-19-2018 09:26 PM

I'd honestly just run the default timing profile #1 or #2. They're close to C1 and C2 and you can hot swap between them if you want to feel the difference.

Got it.. thanks

Hi

I just purchased a Tekin Rx8 gen3 and a bluetooth hotwire, I updated the hotwire and speedo, and with the software the new brake features appear, but I still dont have any turbo settings, neither on the computer or the App.

The Rx8 does not have "Turbo" or "Timing boost" in it. It's a D2 Dual mode esc only. This option is on our 1/10 controllers that DO offer those settings but is not an option on the Rx8. You do have access to timing profiles, and "Timing Advance" which work in a very similar fashion. I'd suggest going to our YouTube channel and listening to a view of our videos in regard to each setting to get yourself up to speed on your stellar choice in ESC ;)

Thats very disappointing, as the materiel on your webpage gives a different information.

That bit circled does list "RS Series" as well. I can see how that maybe easy to misunderstand and I'll pass this along for future use.

We don't need to boost or add turbo to most any car application the Rx8 is used in. What are you using it in that you feel needs this feature?

I’m racing 1/8 eGT with spec motors.

Adding turbo/boost to a 1/8 motor will be a short term gain to a permanent destruction of your equipment. It's never a good idea. Batteries will not tolerate, and the motors are such a low wind that you will eventually break stuff. Timing advance alone when set too high can puff packs.

When will there be a speed controller and motor developped specifically for 1/8 on road cars ? Current speed controllers for 1/8 are very limited in setup options compared to 1/10 speed controllers for touring cars. Also the 1/8 motors are still a fully closed design whereas 1/10 motors are more and more having vent openings to exit heat. Seems like 1/8 speed controllers and motors have been standing still for many years and in 1/8 on road they are a limiting factor for performance today.

Really need a 1900kv combo... Hopefully they come back in stock soon. Any body know if the combo will be including the new gen 3 motors sometime? http://www.teamtekin.com/t8.html
