My rx8 bec recently gave out and I'm now running an external bec, this is in a tekno super lite buggy running spectrum radio and 2s lipo and a jr hi voltage servo. My question is what's stopping me from running a positive, negative lead directly from my battery into the receiver and ditching my external bec? The 2s would provide the power in the correct voltage range or am I missing something?

8.4 volts from the battery would be a bit much for the receiver. They recommend around 6 volts to operate safely.

Ok makes sense. I'm curious if you'd see servo performance variation as the voltage goes from 8.4 down

As long as your RX can handle it, nothing. I do it on most of my cars now.

I don't see where he lists the RX model? More than a few now days have no issue with 8.4+.
