I'm going to be running onroad GT-R class and possibly VTA. I need to get a radio that would be good to begin with but grow with me(if that makes sense). I guess what I'm asking is....Do I need to spend $500 on a radio if something else would be enough or even overkill for what I would be using it for? Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!

check out their official threads here on rctech and you'll get a great idea of what each can do. I thought the 4pv had its own official thread but it seems I can't find it. http://www.rctech.net/forum/radio-el...anwa-mt4s.html

Look at the top thread in this section "Futaba 4PV".
Not sure if it's official but seems to be heading that way
And yes you should buy one
Won't let me post the link, as I've not submitted enough posts yet on the forum.

When I started I used the Flysky GT3b. It was great for a while and still would be but the interface was confusing. It's cheap though and the receivers are as well.
I'm currently using the Flysky IT4s. It's around 100$ and has been working excellent for me! The receivers are about $12ea.
Will I upgrade again someday? Maybe... But I like this one for now and haven't had any issues with it in the year I've had it.
