Brushless timing question.
 

Can anyone tell me how much rpm goes up per degree of timing ? I'm looking at putting a hobbywing 3656 3400kv sensored in my wraith. I have ran the Traxxas vxl before and I know I want more speed than that and its 3500kv. I want the low and slow of the 4 pole and lower kv also sooooo. I'm wondering if I run low timing then boost or turbo ? Will it make much difference? I can either run a skyrc toro 120a which obviously has boost and turbo or run a brushless hobbies 120a which has just timing. Unless a firmware update ads something to the adjustments available. Right now im running a 3656 4000kv non sensored with 0 timing and its pretty smooth but if loaded heavy it'll cog but top end on 2s is nice.

It's not linear and varies depending on a lot of factors. You're not going to get a simple answer like you're looking for. That's why tools like motor analysers exist.

I was wondering about one of those. I guess it may be time to invest in one.

nah, you don't need one of those for what you're looking for here. trial and error. check temps frequently.

when i ran 4wd SC, i ran a hobbywing 3656 4000kv and a hobbywing V3 speedo. most people were using the 4700kv version. i liked the 4000kv because i could tune it with boost/turbo to be as fast as the 4700kv but more driveable on the infield. when i'd run a track with a long straight, i'd run more turbo. big jumps with short run ups? more boost. for your application, i'd put that toro in there and experiment with boost/turbo, again, checking temps. once you get a feel for what each does, i think you'll like it.

I'm going to try that. I really like the idea of low slow control but still have the top end.

Brushless Hobbies should have boost and turbo too. They have the same features as the Hobbywing 2.1 version and can actually use the hobbywing firmware.

I thought they did too. But it has been a while since I had one. Should know in a few days.

Similar setup but it is different. Gonna have to play around with it.
