Default Radio case

I'm looking for a hardcase for my 4pksr. The red/black futaba case is impossible to find it seems so I've been looking at the plastic Pelican style cases. The Nanuk 918 should do I think, anything else I'm missing? The Canadian tire Maximum brand small size one isn't wide enough and I don't want a massive case for just my radio. I like the size of my speedmimd bag just would prefer hardcase.

I personally have the Protek PTK-8160 case for my 4pksr. The case is available for $50, but the foam insert to fit the 4pksr is now discontinued. It was part number PTK-8165, and you may be able to find it online somewhere, or you could get the universal foam kit for the case, part number PTK-8199, and make it fit the radio.

Not a fan of the protek badging and wouldn't look good for sponsors :P

Little bit of paint would fix that... but yeah I understand what you mean.

For much less than the price of the Nanuk case you could get the protek case and a Custom vinyl decal that had your paint job, name, and sponsors on it. The protek logo is only on the one side of the case.

It's definitely a possibility. The protek case is about $70usd before shipping a coupon codes with the foam, where as the nanuk 915 is $90cad at the lhs (and I get better pricing) but I though it was too narrow. Amain shows the protek as only being 5.5" thick inside and know a 4pk with drop down will fit, is that dimension correct? I though I needed like 6.5" which has limited the choices, the nanuk 915 in 6.2". They have one in bright yellow in stock I could probably go in and check it out as well and order it in my preferred color or the 918 if I do need the extra thickness.

This is the depth of the foam insert. As you can see in the background the wheel does stick up from the base foam a little bit.

But there is 1.5 inches of foam in the top of the case to hold the radio in place.

You can see the part of the foam my wheel contacts as that bump is compressed. If you really wanted it to fit perfectly you could trim the bump off with body scissors.

It's a tight fit but I have never felt like it is damaging to my radio.

So it's more like 6 3/4". With a hole cut for the wheel and eggshell foam basically holding the drop down a bit thinner would do, like 6 1/2 would do I think, the nanuk 915 is 6.22", I may get the tape measure out or go to the hobby shop and give it a try
