Default Hobbywing WP-1080 for other than a Crawler??

We run a Mod bodied stock Slash class with the 12T brushed Titan motor ... however, we are allowed to change from the XL5 to another brushed speed control .. in searching what is out there, I came across the HW WP-1080, but see it is generally built/used for Crawlers ... I know nothing about Crawlers, and what they use/need, but I am wondering if this would also be suitable for dirt oval in an otherwise stock Slash ... I like the idea of being able to dial in varying amounts of drag brake ... thanks!

Edit to add: Forward/Brake only ... won't need reverse

What's wrong with the XL5? Only the drag brake? Brushed motors don't have much in terms of ESC tuning. And if you're required to use the stock motor I don't see much advantage to buying something else. I'd spend the money on better tires or body before I swap out the ESC in that class.

The reason it's common with crawlers is because that's the one class of RC vehicles where brushed motors are still common.

Hobbywing 1060. $21 from Amazon. Great for brushed motors. I have a good 6 or so in service now (including one in a Slash).
