ESC problem

I just finished building my first rc car. It's a Team Associated SC5M and for the information relevant to the problem. I have a Reedy blackbox 800z ESC, a reedy 10.5t motor and a futaba 4PLS radio. I plugged everything together and was driving the car around. Unfortunately the car will randomly accelerate to full throttle. This will stop if I input anything into the throttle from the radio. The acceleration is also not displayed on my radio so that leads me to believe that that is not the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated on this problem. Thank you.

First, try calibrating the ESC.

Check the sensor cable is plugged in firmly to the ESC and the motor.
Inspect the motor and esc tabs and make sure that there aren't wires or pieces of solder 'bridging' or shorting the terminals.
If you receiver has an antenna, inspect it for cuts or nicks. Try a different receiver if you have one.
Try rebinding the radio and receiver.
Good luck!
