Hello to all RC hobby lovers and enthusiast!

So... I just bought 1 new 2000mah, and 1 2500mah 7.4 volt battery packs(lipo), and my little brother thought it would be cool to put the connectors together... They were touched together for less than 1/2 second.

The act of him doing that caused the plastic connectors and the brass prongs to melt and singe a little... So I will need to at least snip the wires and replace the connectors and prongs, but I am more worried about the batteries being internally shorted.

The batteries were fully charged and both had a fully charged voltage of 8.4 volts. The voltages of the batteries are now about 8.34 volts after the possible shorting occurred.

The batteries aren't excessively hot or bulging, and not showing signs of being shorted. (I personally think they are still okay)

But has anyone here done this before and knows if they might still be worth using?

The packs may have survived, you should check the internal resistance of the cells. If they are close, then probably you were lucky this time. What connectors are those?
Can you see the cell-facing end of the cables and the soldering?

the battery is for sure compromised. it only takes 1 time. it may work for a little while but it's life is going to be much shorter. I've done this by accident myself. and the battery lasted a few more charge cycles.

I'm not even comfortable suggesting you try to charge it again. lipo's are not to be used without extreme care.
