I am new to the RC world. I have a few drones (IRIS and Phantoms) but this will be my first RC. SX10 crawler I believe.
So the question is, my friend is an avid RCer and we are talking LiPos, on the drones I can see my battery status on the control screen (my phone for the Phantoms)
Can this be done with an RC? Add a camera to the RC and stream live to a screen or phone and have battery readouts on the screen as well? I have a crashed IRIS+ that I can steal parts from and a Black pearl monitor I can use?

That in itself may be overkill. Most ESCs should have a cutoff feature that will cut power when the voltage drops too low. There are also voltage alarms with LEDs and buzzers which may be sufficient. How much detail do you actually need?

You might be better off looking at radios with telemetry built in. I'd assume voltage level would be one of the available sensors.
