Speed control for 1/8th buggy

I'm looking for a speed control for eBuggy for racing that is the least susceptible to getting a concussion or having any other failures. My Tekin and Castle have both sustained concussions.

Try the Hobbywing XR8.

snwchris 09-21-2016 05:34 AM

HW SCTPro 120A or the HW XR8, best bang for the money and a lot of people are running them over the past couple years now. The Xr8 is new this year

Look down thru the post of pages, cause this ESC stuff seems to come up once a week now, and there's another thread that already has 2 to 3 pages as well.

Wow ..really somebody else started one of these on Friday .

snwchris 09-21-2016 08:10 AM

Here's the link for the other thread that was started and has 3 pages of info as well.

@trollstryker- Wow... really? I see you're trolling in my thread and in the other thread snwchris linked me too. I'm sure lots of other places too. Stay out of my threads and don't reply to any of my posts. No one asked you to click on it or made you read it. You saw the title, knew what it was going to be about and the troll in you couldn't help posting an insult under the guise of being surprised.

To everyone else, thank you for the help.

What he said!

I've just moved to HobbyWing from Tekin. I prefer the hobbywing... It's cheaper, easier install, and considerably smoother.

I cant say anything about Hobbywing because I've never used one. But on all my cars I use Tekin. I know there a little expensive but they work and you can dialed them in at the track. Don't need a program box or computer. And if you did they have the interlink to setup more detail. :tire:

TEKIN ALL THE WAY!!

I'm going to buy the Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Plus. Is there any on-board programming that can be done or do i pretty much have to get the programming card, box or wifi express smartphone module or can i just run it out of the box without programing it?

Perrydog 09-24-2016 06:16 PM

My friend has been thru 2 tekin rx8's this season. I'm running a 3rd season hobby wing. Reliable and plenty of features

The switch is the type w the button built in, I'm guessing this will allow some type of programming? .. I suggest spending the $30ish on the program card.... It's super simple to use, and it works 1/10 and 1/8.

I'll take your suggestion.
As far as mounting the speed control, is using double sided foam tape or a gel type tape enough of a cushion for the speed to sit on so it doesn't start getting concussions?

They come with a mounting plate and screws ,but when fitted to the sc leaves a @7mm gap.ie gets higher ,i cut mine down just leaving a gap to slide cable ties through, and also under the stock7 mount ,and fitted 1/4 rubber in-between. Ps the hobbywing doesn't seem to be troubled by concussions as much as tekin !

waffleNchicken 09-26-2016 04:37 AM

I just use the Kyosho gel to secure all my escs. It's thick, shock absorbent, and re-usable! Check it out...once you use it, you'll wonder how you lived w/out it.

PS. Tekin now suggest all rx8 owners uses kyosho gel tape to help reduce tekin concussions.
