Wires came unplugged

Doesn't sound like the motor got too hot to cause that at 175F. If the wire gauge was too small, that could be a factor, either that or more likely a solder job that wasn't solid. What vehicle, motor, wire gauge and gearing were you using?

50 spur 15 pinion and for the wires it's the wires that came with the speed control active 8 novak

Esc comes with 12 gauge wires. A pic of the connections would help to diagnose. A bad solder joint is easy to get and can be caused by many things. Wattage of soldering iron, iron temp, proper tinning, correct solder, flux all need to be considered. I really enjoy soldering but took time to get really good at it.

If it "just came off" it was likely a bad or "cold" solder joint. A bad solder joint will cause resistance and heat. Personally, I don't feel a 30 watt iron is sufficient for 12 gauge wire. A 60 watt iron with a med/wide chisel tip is more up to that task. I use a Checkpoint 60 watt soldering station at home but can do a good job with a $8-$10 dollar 60 watt iron. Also make sure there's a slight amount of slack in your wires. Too snug and chassis flexing and vibrations can cause wires to pop off.

novak usually use 14 or 16 gauge wire. Tekins use 12 gauge. What ever your ESC uses use the larger on motor, like 12 to 10 gauge. Cold solder joints can cause heat. Are you tinning your iron and wire correctly?? tinning 95% of soldering.
