Charger question.

I know this question has been asked 1.1 million times but everyones situation is a little different. Some can afford more, some less, and everyone is up to something different.
Im just getting back into RC, last time i was in it was nitro so battery charging is new. My boys each have Slash 2wd and Im probably going to get one too. We will be racing oval track with them, always running 3000-5200mah 2s 30-50c LIPO batteries. Most of them have a 2c charge racing with the exception of the Dynamite 4000 30c (9005) and thats a 3c. Currently we have 1 traxxas ID charger and it SUCKS! Takes exactly 51 mins to charge up the kids 3000 NIMH batteries. LIPO's are going to be picked up tomorrow.
So at the track each of us will have 2 batteries, probably 3000-4000's, racing 5 min heats. Im looking at a good charger setup. I have been looking at Hyperions, thinking i should go with 3 singles (better discharge rates) or a single and a duo, most likely ac/dc and skip the power supply. Then i saw on the Heli forums that a lot of guys have had issues.
Then i thought about the Charger 206b's x3 with 3 of the P350 Junsi power supplies.
I dunno how much data logging I will do, we are not going to be running packs that cost much more than 30.00-40.00 ea and all we have are iPhones, iPads, and a MAC at home. No laptops.
Any suggestions?

I'll chime in. Running brushed yes you have plenty power. As for chargers on a budget lol that can get scary. I can a point you to a supplier of very affordable lipos.same place sells little single pack chargers for around 30 I believe and they'll charge up to 5a.spend lil bread and get a hitec x4(or similar).I have the ac/dc version and it's f'n sweet. J/s.check out valuehobby.com.they sell 5000mah 25c 2s for 18.99a piece. And that's the one with cheap charger. But those packs mentioned are plenty for a 12t slash. I used a couple for a year or so in my 4x4 stampede running a sidewinder with duratrax 3900kv 4 pole.

You don't really need a high discharge rate charger with Lipos. The only time I use the discharge function is when I put the batteries into storage mode. I really don't care if it takes an hour because I set it and walk away.
With a 5000mah battery and a 5 min race, you'll probably use +/-2000mah.
If your boys are old enough to safely operate a charger, everyone having their own might be a good thing.

I looked at the turnigy Reacktors tonite, particular the 300x2 one, maybe buying a pair, but I'm a little shy of how cheap they are. There is no way they are built as good as the icharger for half the price. Seems sketchy.

Doug do yourself a favor and just get an iCharger and be done with it. They are every bit as advertised and will hold it's value and sell quickly when you're done with it.

I have 2 Hyperion EOS0720i NET3 AC.DC chargers and they are fabulous. Never had any issues with them and the more I read the manual and learn how to use them the more I like them. The iChargers are nice, but I think there are definitely other chargers on the market that are just as good.
I love not having to drag a power supply around with me.

But that still does not change the fact that there are other chargers on the market that work great. Not everyone wants to deal with power supplies. I know I sure don't and the OP said he was looking more towards AC/DC chargers.
Not everyone needs to charge and discharge at 40 amps. And there are a lot of people that have absolutely no business charging at 40 amps. Just because the "pros" do it doesn't mean that everyone in the pits should be.
My chargers will charge at 20 amps and discharge at 5 and even that is more than enough. I charge 2s at 8 amps and my 4s at 12 unless I forget to charge in between heats and have to charge fast to make a race.

Here are other AC chargers on the market which I think will suit your needs. As you look into them more, you will find most of the chargers are just a copy of something. Slap a different paint and color scheme and call it a day. The choice is yours.
