Default NIMH Batteries sitting for a while.

If a NIMH battery like a 5 cell 1600mah rx flat pack or a 1700 mah hump has been sitting unused for 9 months or more, is it still any good?

I just put a flatpack on my charger and it was done in 8 minutes.

I restarted it and it seems to be going for a while now.

I'm wondering how reliable this is going to be.

Don't get your hopes up.I've had mine sitting around for a while, they are junk.I had to order some ni-cads to hold me over until I save up my paper route money to get a descent set of li-pos & charger.

Ni-cad the worst looses it memory. NiMh Keeps its memory. Newer charger that does lipos capable of doing NiCad, Nimh, lipos, LiFe &Pb. They have function of cycling battery. 2-5 times. You may revive them, if you want. My museum pieces still have Nimh, 20+ yrs old, to keep them running, recharge them once a years, a few are only 900mah then most 1400mah. their just work fine.

Cycling nimh do it by charging at 80% of mah, then full charge. Your just waking them up.

Good Luck!! Lakeside huh!! Havent been there for 41 yrs!! got relative there of off Los Cochese, SD Area and Veiajas, Borona, Casino down there!!! loll!!

Ya Lakeside, has gotten a lot hotter and humid over the years.

Not much changed from the time I first moved here in '89 to about 2000 but then everything got developed. There's industrial complexes everywhere now.

Remember the sandpits? Not much of that left. It's almost all bee turned into commercal buildings. There's just one small little spot left where I run my cars.

It really sucks here now between the humidity and developers ruining everything, I'm looking to move to somewhere decent.

My Clients were banking, Casinos, Armored Car Carriers. Last time I saw my relatives was '89!! I'm originally from LA. I have had the time to visit. While working my area was from Fresno to SD and Hawaii to the Gila River.

Humid yes I remember in the summer. Family would visit that was in the '60's!!!

Used to use Hi-Way 5, then started using the 15. Because speed limit was raised to 75mph, averaged 83mph. Yep!! miss southern Cal!!!

Yes, I'm sure your batteries are fine, for RX. People more into Lipos & LiFe's. one this you got to do monitor voltage, cant go below 3v. NiMh you can go as much you want glitches Servos just slow down.

My 5 cell nimh packs were unused for four years and to revive them i did 3 charge/discharge cycles. But after this they still couldn't hold a slow charge, so i did a fast charge at 3 amps and they seem to be fine again.

Cycle them a few times and they might come back. Carefull though, if they're left dead for too long the polarity of the cells can reverse.
