Yes.

Tested 3 Orca combos, all identical results. The delay in applying full power from the ESC is a function of the sensorless configuration.

Wonder what another brand of sensorless would be like?

Hi Gary,

So you have hardwired between the dyno output and the ESC input(I use a Deans plug there), and then from the ESC to the motor(Hardwire). By "octopus", I assume you are referring to the three clips from the motor checker? (Yes)

I also remove the flywheel for timing tests.

I use Deans plugs where I can just to make it easier to transfer from one unit to another. (MD2 and the CE Dyno)

Haven't tried it Earl. Manual states 6.6 to 7.2 input voltage. Maybe someone with single cell lipos could try it. I dumped most of my pan car stuff.

So many questions, so little time. I need to be retired. I wondered the same thing. I have a few cheap Sky RC leopard ESC's - I will run one.

I usually solder leads onto a motor with 3.5mm plugs when running for timing tests etc on the Sky RC checker. Too many funny sparks and noises when using alligator clips and they decide to go for a wander.

Anyone carrying these in the USA?

So what's the skinny on the 17.5 motors who is top dog and how sweet is the sweet spot ( sweet spot vs 5-10deg off )

DamianW 09-06-2015 02:19 AM

Sweet spot depends on the motor but most the tuning range is about 5 deg.

If we gave all the answers, you wouldn't need the dyno now would you?

I haven't tested too many of the current crop of 17.5's, but so far the new D4 1s certified with the 1112 rotor, at 53° measured timing, is hanging out on the top spot of my test list for power. The new D4 eclipses my Killshot by a slight margin, which was the dyno champ of last year's crowd, and that motor topped the legendary D3.5.

It should be noted that the differences on the dyno between my D4 and the top players from last year are small - like 2% - so, to quote Captain Obvious - if you hear at the track that a motor is fast, it will most likely prove itself on the dyno.

Depending on the motor, 5 to 10° timing can make a world of difference in torque/power/current draw. As not all endbell timing marks are even close to accurate, even between identical motors - as you are probably aware - once again it is always best to start with safe gearing and work your way up to the peak performance for your particular motor.

YMMV.

Lol very true .
But I do want one ,but gathering up all the necessary stuff it seems is the part I'm wondering . if there was a complete pkg ,then I will own one already.

Is this adjustable to 1 cell voltage for the guys running that?

EDWARD2003 09-06-2015 09:13 PM

If it's for one cell applications, I would assume just dividing your values by 2.

MD2 Dyno
ESC
Motor
Batteries

Is all you need. :sneaky:

Thanks EDWARD2003, I thought about that but figured if it would run on 3.7 that would be perfect for me.
