Default Airtronics 471 receiver won't bind

A couple weeks ago I bought a used M12 off the for sale Forum and it came with 2 - 471 receivers. One binds fine, but when I try to go through the binding process on the other one, the blue led just blinks and then goes out. It doesn't start blinking faster like it is supposed to when you hit bind on the M12. I'm just getting back in to the hobby, so the whole 2.4ghz is all new to me. I should be able to bind the second receiver, right? Has anybody else had this happen? How is Airtronics repair service?

First off, clear all model setting to make sure you are starting fresh.

Set up your first model, making sure to set the modulation to FH4T, and the Safety Link to 1 (in bind menu), bind the first receiver.

Now switch to model 2, set modulation to FH4T and the Safety Link to 2,(in bind menu), bind second receiver.

If it still does not bind, would suspect faulty Rx. (Also check condition of antenna, should have a silverish/clear tip 30.5mm long exposed from black coax. if it is damaged, it may not be receiving. You can buy new antenna's for these)

Thanks SLOWINSLOWOUT. I didn't change the safety link number. I was hoping it was something simple. I'll give it a try when I get home from work, but I am sure that's the problem.

Edit - just got home and tried it again, this time switching it to safety link 2. Still a no go with that receiver. I can re-bind the other one just fine, but the second one just flashes for about 10 seconds and then the LED turns off.

You can only bind one reciever per model memory so make sure you are building one rx in memory 1 and the second in memory 2. Make sure you set the modulation to FH4T. The safety link channel makes no difference to binding. Is the second 'problem' reciever a dual ID unit by any chance?

The 471 is backwards compatible with FH3 modulation as well so you could try binding it as FH3 as well just to test it out.

I tried it on several different models - all reset and still nothing. The one that won't bind is the same model as the one that will. I went ahead and boxed it up and am sending off today to Airtronics to be checked out.
Thanks for all the help.

Try this first:

-Power up transmitter and go to the bind menu.
-Start bind procedure on your transmitter.
-Press the BIND button on the receiver.
-Power up your esc, power switch on while still pressing the BIND button on the receiver.
-Release BIND button on your receiver. Wait 2 seconds AND PRESS ENTER AGAIN ON YOUR TRANSMITTER!

This last step (If I recall this correctly) isn't described in the manual...

Thanks Govert, but it's already on the way back to Airtronics. I tried something like that, and nothing worked. I am guessing I spent close to an hour trying different things with it. At this point I am just praying it doesn't cost a small fortune to get it fixed.

Just thought I would post an update on this. I just got off the phone with Tom at Airtronics and it turns out that the board in the receiver has a crack. He said he finally got it to bind but in no way shape or form would it be reliable. He said my only option was to use their trade in program and get a new one for $66. Thanks again for all the help guys!
