Default Wierd: ESC Tones From Motor

I'm not making this thread because I need help, rather just to share an odd situation.

I accidentally fried my esc by leaving the clipped red esc wire (to use bec) exposed while testing some things. It shorted out against my motor and let the magic smoke out of the esc So I was testing it afterwards to make sure that it was dead, and now when the castle esc 'arming tones' sound it is super quiet and the motor is making the sound! I had no idea a motor could act as a speaker.

I double checked this to be sure that I wasn't 'hearing things'. Nope, I have a motor speaker.

Not unusual, I have speedos that use the motor to make beeping sounds for setup.

That's where the sound comes from always. Try hooking up an ESC without a motor, you'll see the light(s) doing their normal thing but no sounds. No ESC's have speakers, most people never realize this but the sound is made by vibrating the motor. Next time your ESC is "beeping" put your finger on the motor and you'll feel it.
Crazy right?

Ok, learned something new today.
But now a question...for instance...

When got my MMP good the sound is loud and clear...
When the sound is not loud and clear is this a motor fault?

I mean... that i got a MMP with a black Neu that only last one month with loud noises...then afther that months motor smoked literally but i kept using it after 2 years of use only, BUT THE noise was soft noise until quit's forever.

But before quits forever she had another motor but sound was the same SOFT.

I have another MMP with another motor and sound is always strong/loud!

Any opinions on that?

Soft beeps means Castle ESC is weakened? Injured?

No, not necessarily. The tone is created by vibrating the motor wires and stator laminations (if present). If the windings are potted or wound tightly, or the laminations are glued or stacked tightly, then the sound will not be as loud. So the differing volumes have more to do with them coming from different motors.

Yes I'd certainly expect different volumes from different motors. Just like say a 4.5T responds differently to full throttle than a 17.5T, I'd expect different responses to the ESC beep signal.

Similarly, if a motor was smoked I'd expect reduced performance, and reduced beep volumes.

Of course both could be true! The motor and ESC could both be compromised if abused or whatever.
