Hi all,
Had posted in the general Electric Off Road forum but saw this more appropriate section at the top level.
Coming back into the hobby after an absence of a decade or two so I'm learning the ropes with brushless and LiPo systems.
Whats the general consensus with battery wiring?
1. Direct from ESC > Solid bullets > battery tubes (separate charge wire).
2a.Direct from ESC > Deans < Deans < battery tubes (with balance wire).
2b.Direct from ESC > XT60 < XT60 < battery tubes (with balance wire).
3a.Direct from ESC > Deans < Deans < battery tubes (withOUT balance wire, separate charge wire).
3b.Direct from ESC > XT60 < XT60 < battery tubes (withOUT balance wire, separate charge wire).
From what I have seen or read it seems that 1. is the stand out preference amongst racers.

If I am racing I would solder the wires between the ESC and Motor.
Between ESC and battery I would use tube connectors (Lipo).
Since I no longer race and just play with my cars at home, I use bullet connectors between the ESC and Motor, and Deans/tube connectors between ESC and batteries.

Yes, as long as you are running inboard packs most people will go straight from ESC to battery and esc to motor with no connections. ESC to motor directly solderered, and ESC to battery 4mm or 5mm bullets to inboard connectors. less connections means both less points of failure as well as lower resistance, less heat buildup.

Thanks everyone, decision made.
Direct to Motor
Direct to Battery with 4mm gold solid bullets (Castle do good ones apparently)
I will then get a separate lead made to charge the batteries with balance cable.
Any good makes of 12awg cable or are they all much of a muchness?
Thanks
Richard
