Traxxas Stability Management Receiver

Frankly I was just putting it out there for consideration. I actually agree Racer, as a traning aid mainly. Maybe even some non cert informal races to help young kids build some self esteem and some kind of trigger displine. But certainly not a "pro" class. After running this for a few packs, I'm not impressed with the speed of corrections or the overall control. On my E-Maxx on pavement, it doesn't "respond" fast enough (feels slow on response), and you can actually see it "wiggle steering/ left, right, left, right", as it trys to correct. And that's on 45%. My son, 31 year old, says when he ran it, where it really shined was the dirt. Oh well, it was an experiment and the TSM receiver cost the same as the defective telemetry one I replaced, so no loss. Maybe it will do better in a smaller truck? Not sure.

As a "hard core" or "old school" racer. What honestly scared me a little was when I contacted Frank Root from TLR about their system. I assumed the top level drivers wouldn't actually benefit from it. He told me that he himself was almost half a second faster per lap with their system.
I like technology and appreciate the advancements that we have. But from a racing stand point, these systems are not good and will never be allowed.

IMO these advances in are great.
The blanket ban or the same mentality it before it is even tried is very foolish.
I have tried the spektrum AVC and it did what was claimed. I was no faster with and the car was not easier to drive but it did stop the 360 spin which would have lead to being cleaned up by another car breaking both.
IMO AVC is great for bashers and new racers they will not be faster with it but have more fun finish more races and break less parts.
In the long run AVC increasing the fun will result in more retaining more new racers which we do very poorly atm.

IMO it is great technology but not for me.
I rather learn to control the vehicle and have the human error than have a machine make the choice for me. Though, I would like to see it fall under it's own group but for all other races it should be banned.
I bought the Traxxas Slash 2wd model just recently. Once I received it I tried out the beginner's mode and realized it wasn't for me. I wanted more speed. I immediately switched to the Sport mode and got what I wanted.
I do set to beginners for my toddler and set to sport for my teen. I really love that technology!
My model doesn't have the TSM but I can see where it will come in handy. Just as the ability to change the ESC's mode from sport, race, or beginners is a great idea. Can you imagine handing a toddler a 30mph+ vehicle and yelling at him to turn it before hitting a brick wall?! OUCH! Now handing him a 15mph RC my wallet isn't screaming!
TSM has a hand in the ability to minimize those brick wall crashes costing so much money.
I believe Traxxas is going for the younger market trying to get them to bite because RC's are a dying industry. The number one fear for everyone getting into the industry is the cost of repairs!
I've been out of the industry for a couple of decades and my number one fear was the cost of repairs. After, hitting a few boulders bigger than my RC truck and not break anything my wallet isn't screaming as much!
So, I bid Traxxas a job well done on their technological advances!!!
