I think you've somewhat eliminated all the obvious potential issues. Hitec is known for their customer support, you might want to email them.
yeah it gets hot. I'm gonna get into it tomorrow night when I get home from work so I'll see what I can find out. Tha KS everyone for the help I really appreciate it.
