Tekin RSX capacitor options?

i was wondering if i could use a remote mounted cap board vs the direct post soldered factory supplied one? i just dont feel comfortable with the leads from the cap just hanging out and breaking with a bad crash
not looking for a performance gain, just for chassis fitment purposes. if so, what should i look for, or any off the shelf recommendations of any brand would help... just want to match tekin's specs

Well...i think most people (including tekin) are gonna tell you to stay with their factory spec capacitors. I have bought and used panasonic caps with the same spec.from mouser electrinics no problem. Depending on the layout of your car you can just solder wire leads to your cap and have it remotely mounted somewhere just like those cap boards/banks are. I suggest using heat shrink on all solder joints to avoid a short down the road. Hope this helps?

Unless you are familure with the theory of DC, I would stick with the factory cap. I, and many many others, have installed it directly on the posts like Tekin suggests and have not had a problem. I put a small piece of double sided tape to keep it laid down and tight against the case. And.... I have had mine in the same position for the last 5 years. I only recently resoldered it when I changed the layout of my wires.

+1 on the servo tape, i really wasnt trying to get my doctorate in electrical engineering, but i wonder about the length of remote mounting the cap and the length of wire adding resistance, i guess i should of asked why do some boards have multi caps installed, and regardless of motor, tekin just uses one... super close to the batt leads...
theres a novak cap that comes with wire leads, an orion setup encased in a lil plastic case and so on... just wondering if anyone ever tried a remote setup with the rsx... ill do as manufacture recommended, but wanted to see if any options have worked out for more knowledgeable people... yet again, this is purely for fitment and not for any power benefits to using caps...

Basically you can use any cap or multiple caps as long as they are the same size or larger than stock. Remote locating is ok. Tekin would use language like "try to keep as short as possible...." The caps get less effective the further away they are.
I'm using a cap bank on my rs gen II. The thinking for racing is it helps in stock classes accelerating out of the corners. The potentially gain is very small so I wouldn't call it a must have over using a short piece of wire with the stock cap if you have space concerns.

that smc setup is kinda cool, just a taste pricey, already spent a huge chunk of coin on my tekin stuff, off topic they just replaced 3 esc's and 2 motors, toy budget took a good hit!
doing some reading to what caps do and what kind of caps to use and it seems that they also help when using short battery leads, which my setup is kinda leading to, and now it raises questions on my ebuggy, as im running an rx8 gen2 2000kv on 4s, could using a set of external caps help aid cool running, i dont run any timing and the current limiter is all the way down, no heat problems at all, just popped into my head as i was reading... i know theres caps already on the board, thinking using some more could be a good thing?
gonna scour a-main and see whats in the budget for the rsx, sorry if i got a bit off topic.. and many thanks for all the replies! how bout some pics of rsx setups?

I use the Murfdogg Octane Booster in all of my cars that have a Tekin ESC. Works great!
