Default Brushless motor Stuttering

Hi everyone,

I've recently installed an old esc and brushless motor from a drift car that is no longer functional... I've put it into my traxxas ford raptor, its an ace rc esc and a 3900kv ripper brushless motor. As far as i know the motor and esc worked fine when i had it in my drift car and was using it which was only a couple of months ago. However, now whenever i put a bit of throttle on it goes for about 2 seconds then stutters and comes to a stop. Sometimes it makes the whole system spaz out and the wheels turn right and left quickly. Im not sure what is causing this because im also using the same battery i used in the drift car. I heard someone saying this can be caused if there is low voltage to the motor. Could it be a faulty battery? I've just moved the esc, motor and battery and put it onto my raptor so im not sure what the problem is.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi
Have you hooked a watt meter to see what esc is pulling?
sounds like it could be a battery problem . or even the esc bec failing..there are a few things that could be going on..

Ok i just found a second battery that i had thats the exact same. It also does the same thing. So its the esc causing it to studder? When i put the different battery in it worked for a couple of minutes until it started doing the same thing.

Any ideas?

Default imo

Imo Sounds like you drawing more power than esc can flow. Does esc or motor feel hot? Temp gun check? If you have extra pinions about gear down considerably and try again.if esc didn't cook on first run

What happens if you drive it around with gentle acceleration? If hard acceleration causes the problem, it's probably your battery not up to the task.

The traxxas is a lot heavier than the drift car and the drift car with it's slippery wheels don't require a lot of power. You're putting a lot more strain on the system.
