I picked up a Savox 2271 servo and am using a RS Pro esc. The Castle BEC works fine for my other cars, but does not work for this combo. Is it the brushless servo, maybe high voltage issue, I am lost on why it doesn't work. When I hook it up the servo goes to one side and stops. I really don't want to ruin a $100 servo on this.

Here is my opinion....

If you have to add an additional piece of electronics to your vehicle to increase the voltage to make something else work, than maybe you need to find a better something else.. Servo, speedo, RX what ever.

I know the Savox servos suck up a lot of power ( one of the reasons I don't use them) but have you tried running it without the BEC... Does everything work fine.... Just because its a HV servo, doesn't mean you HAVE to run it at high voltage.

I would suggest getting a cap and plug it into an extra slot on the receiver instead of the BEC. The Tekin speedos are great but pairing them with a Savox servo has resulted in some "issues." Add the Spektrum RX into the mix and you all but have to run a cap in the RX.

You have to run a cap castle creations do not have strong enough bec for it.

it will work for a hv servo. it will go all the way up to 9v. you have to use a castle link usb connector to raise it from it's stock 5.1v setting though.

which is why I never bothered to buy one to use with my hobby wing esc. I don't feel like spending $45 for both just to increase my servo speed a little bit.

I have the USB connector also. For some reason it acts weird when I add the BEC to the mix, and just fine without. I did bump the BEC to 7.4 volts. The servo moves and then locks up. Should I let it sit for awhile to see if they just need too recognize each other?

If it works just fine without it.... why continue to use it?

Have you adjusted the voltage back to the normal 5.5-6 volts and see if it does the same thing?

Letting it sit will probably do nothing for you. Sounds like the RX and BEC are creating some sort of abnormality causing it to go screwy.. I would get rid of the BEC....

For the ESC --> Did you remove the "red wire" pin (usually the middle pin) from the connector that plugs into the receiver? You have to remove it when you use an external BEC...This is what you have to do when using an external BEC with a Castle MMP ESC.

I did make an extension that removes the red wire from the circuit, so I wouldn't have to actually cut the esc wire.

Oh well, looks like an RSX in my future.

Did you happen to have soldered the Castle BEC to the posts on your speed controller? There is apparently some kind of issue created by soldering the BEC directly to the posts of a Tekin speed controller. My Castle BEC wouldn't work right if it was soldered to the posts on my RS but it worked fine spliced into the battery wires.
