Can u specify your understanding of best. There are some high end servo brands like futaba, ko, hitec, savox, radiopost, protek, expert and so on. Each one of them has its own advantages over other servo brands generally. But i can say i bought xpert si-4431 servo recently. And u can bought it from amain with discount coupon. It costs 65 usd. Its an brushless servo and its specs are 0.08sec/60degrees and 17.5 kg.cm which are good specs for both 4wd sct and 1:8 buggy. And i think its one of the best cheapest high end servo

http://www.amain.com/Xpert-4000-Seri...-Servo/p276593

this the link for xpert servo. I have savox 1258, 1256 and 2274 as well. 2274 is the best by far. Here are specs for each above. Savox brushless servos was 20 dollars more expensive about 2 months ago or so. They dropped the price and amain changed discount policy. Therefore, i was able to buy 2274 for 83 dollars instead of 110 dollars. Highly recommended servo which TY tessmann uses. 1258 is fast servo but you dont wanna put 12kg torque servo in your +3000gr rc car. 1267 is one of the most preffered servo for 1/8 scale models. I suggest it if you have an esc supports 7.4v or an external bec. Also, 2274 is an brushless servo which has longer life cycle and draw less amp compared to coreless motor.

savox sb 2274sg
Speed:
@7.4V: .08 sec/60
@6.0V: .105 sec/60
Torque:
@7.4V: 347.2 oz-in
@6.0V: 277.7 oz-in

savox sa 1258tg (not high voltage servo)
Speed(@6.0V sec/60): .08
Torque(@6.0V oz-in): 166.6

savox sc 1267mg
Torque: @7.4v - 277.7 oz-in / 21 kg-cm
Speed: @7.4v - 0.09 sec/60°

ace ds1015

very good pricing, super fast under 6v, precise, silent...

way better than all the 1258tg I had

savox is savox, it's ok for the price but they are neither smooth or silent or efficient.. they are average (I owned many of them)

top brands: kopropo, futaba, sanwa, JR, radiopost..

good brands: ace, hitec, graupner...

it could operate nicely but i have to admit i am not impressed with torque/speed value considering 100usd price tag. I would rather buy hitec 7954 which is 0.01sec slower at 7.4v but doubles the torque. Its only 100usd as well.

locally the ds1015 is way cheaper than that but you're right for 100$ there will be other more interesting options out there

hitec 7955tg is a strong choice also, many drivers use it at 7,4v
