Default Slow car,motor,esc,sensor wire?

I have a 1/10 buggy HP PRS1. New Reedy Sonic Mach2 17.5, Hobbywing ESC Xerun V2.1 , Im on my third motor and all seem slow compared to others. I am getting little punch but top end seems decent. My gearing is 69/32 which is comparable to others at my track. Im wondering can my esc be fading due to old age? Or could it be caused by a bad sensor wire? Also Im getting a noise that sounds like my diff is crunchy but I just rebuilt it after hearing the same noise last week.Diff seems smooth but noise is still present. Checked all bearings and everything is smooth. Im questioning if it could be cogging maybe. I also tried another guys battery to eliminate that possibility. Any suggestions other than throwing more money at it? After driving my friends car it is a night and day difference.

Assume you have tried the obligatory step of a new sensor cable?

And also assuming that your esc is not programmed in a strange way limiting power. Have you tried to reset it to default settings?

Can your motor/esc run without a sensor cable? If yes, try a run without the sensor cable and see if that changes anything.

If any of that doesn't help (and your drive train is smooth and free running), then it seems like the most effective method to eliminate errors would be to try another esc since you have already tried different motors.

Great advise. I will try the things you mentioned. Primarily setting esc to a default mode, and new sensor wire. Hopefully its something minor.

It seems the problem was the sensor wire. Motor was cogging. Re calibrated esc also just for good measure. Car seems good now.
