Default 1st gen rx8 issue

Hey guys I just got my first tekin rx8 1st gen esc. It has a delay to go into reverse, as in I have to have it stopped and wait about a second before reverse is available. Can I remove this delay? Hit brakes, and then go into reverse like my castle esc's do? It's got a T8 1900kv 2nd gen motor hooked to it.

Yes you can, but it's more likely to rip up stuff in the car.

Ok so I can get rid of the wait time that's good. I just need it to act like a castle MMP in normal running mode. I'll have a hotwire tomorrow evening and if for some reason I can't get it the way I want it it's coming out for an MMP.

When running reverse you have two options.

You can have a 1 second reverse delay. Currently this isn't adjustable for the amount of delay time.

Or you can have immediate reverse.

huh? I thought you wanted to disable the delay for reverse, the RX8 does that... in any ESC that is not recommended as you can blow the guts out of your drive train with the shock of nailing full reverse with full forward momentum still in play. But it will do what you are asking.

Another thing, re-calibrate your ESC, I have had them from time to time be very hard to find reverse in and the reason is the ESC will not allow revers until you were in neutral for a full second. If the ESC has a hard time finding neutral because it needs to be calibrated or because you keep trying to fish for reverse you will just site there and make the lights blink.

The secret to reverse with Tekin products is that your ESC needs to sit idle in neutral for a full second before you can use it. That not only means that proper calibration is big deal, but that means no throttle input for that full second from the radio either.

+1

and a second is longer than you'd think

if you engage reverse too early you'll have to wait one second again and again and again.. and loose a lot of time

Well I borrowed a hotwire and tried a few things. Yeah it simply won't act like a castle. The delay is not what I want. I'm going to test crawler mode in my Tekno to see how it feels, if it feels ok then I'll put the RX8 into my ROC412 powered bouncer and put the MMP that's in that into the Tekno. I guess I'm just used to castle stuff, I really like the Tekin motors though.

So why didnt you get a castle?

"I like chocolate, like really like chocolate. But I want to try vanillia. BAH! Why is this not like chocolate? How can I make it more like chocolate? I could put chocolate syrup on it and maybe that will make it chocolate! Hmmm better but still not chocolate....."

I much prefer the tekin rx8 to my MMP (and loads better than my old MMM).

Lol.

Do you want to be to go full throttle forward and then be able to hit reverse and tear the drive line out, or hit reverse and have it brake till it stops then go in reverse? I really don't think a 80A castle ESC is gonna a last long on a Tekno.

I wanted to try a Tekin, with the castle FIRST you get brakes, THEN after a SECOND pump of the trigger it gets to reverse. Don't be stupid people I'm not talking about CRAWLER settings!

Oh and RX8 is gone, it now has an MMP in there. If the MMP fails I'll figure something else out, no more Tekin esc's for me.

Just trying to understand why you would want to replace one of the best ESCs out there with one of the low end ones.

Tekin is the best but the rx8 doesn't drive the way I want it to. If I could get rid of that delay it would be perfect. I have about 10 RC's from 1/8 racers and monster trucks to scalers and comp crawlers and they all have castle esc's not a single failure. If I were a pure racer, everything fast would be tekin but I'm a basher with racer tendencies.
