slowing down servo speed
#1
Anyone ever get better results by slowing down their hyper fast servos? Not sure about all controllers, but the M12 has a servo speed setting which I was contemplating using.

To fast and a car can feel "twitchy" and can be harder to drive. So for example if a servo was say... .04, I might slow it a little, because I'm used to around .8-.12. Usually you don't need to slow it though, as having really snappy and precise steering is a good thing.

Yes, you should slow it down and work your way up. This will get your eye- hand is sync with your driving speed.
The M12 gives you control on everything. Some settings are better off controlled in the ESC and some in the radio.
Soon you will be able to see the over and understeer and start tuning the shocks. When the servo is too fast you are only focus on keeping the car straight and cannot see anything else.
Visualize being in the car. When you make a U turn the steering wheel rotates a few times and when you release it you lightly grab on to it to slow down the rotation until you exit the turn.
Make you radio mimic these setting and you will get through the apex easier.

You should slow it down to what you are normally used to and overtime try speeding it up to where you feel it's the perfect mix of fast and slow. I personally run a 0.8 @ 6.0 and feel its perfect. Not too twitchy, but not too slow.

In oval pan cars we slow it down quite a bit. I use roughly 30% speed. If the cars tight getting into the corner you can speed up the servo to help turn in. So this can be a pretty big tuning tool also. Experiment for sure

Theres always a few cheaper servos that can be bumped up with higher voltage. Make sure the cheap?ones center well though. Alot of chinese ones dont. I have found the jr590 ok with more voltage, i think the jrst125 or 126 i forget the number and the futaba3305 have been decent with more voltage. Some rtr metal gears are ok too.
Just because some pros use really fast servos doesnt mean its right for you. Thats what racing is all about. Finding out what works for you.
