Will my setup cause a brownout?
Hey guys,
I have just built kyosho mp9e 1/8 buggy. It has savox 1256 tg servo, 6000 mah 4s 70c battery, sanwa mt4-s radio & receiver and hobbywing 150a esc 2250 kv motor. Will this setup cause a brownout? |
How many amps is your BEC rated for? If it's less than 5A you could have some issues. If you are having problems, a glitch buster cap would help, but it's more of a band aide than a real fix.

These are the specs if it helps:
1.1 Output: Continuous 150A, burst 950A. 1.2 Input: 6-18 cells NiMH/NiCd or 2-6S LiPo. (When using 2S lipo or 6 cells NiMH, an UBEC or seperate battery is strongly recommended to supply the receiver) 1.3 BEC: 5.75V/3A (Switch mode built-in BEC). 1.4 Resistance: 0.0002 Ohm. 1.5 Motor Supported: Sensorless and sensored brushless motors. 1.6 Suitable Motor: * Note #1 When working with 4 cells Lipo: KV<=3000 When working with 6 cells Lipo: KV<=2400 1.7 Suitable Car: 1/8 On-road/Buggy/Truggy/Monster competition. 1.8 Size: 58mm(L) * 46.5mm(W) * 35mm(H). 1.9 Weight: 105g (Without wires). |
Shouldn't do, Sanwa radios aren't prone to brownouts like Spektrum

Nexxus might be right, but that servo can pull 5 amps when stalled (or shocked, like when landing a jump). Your BEC can provide 3 amps. Eventually something's gonna give.
|
ok so how do i avoid a potential brownout?
|
You might get by with a glitch buster capacitor plugged in to your receiver. You might have to use an external BEC. You might need nothing. Won't know until you try it out.
|
A glitch buster cap is cheap enough to just get and see if makes a difference. I have seen a case or two where dry steering is improved with a cap vs without. For a few $$ you can just see what it does.

thanx guys.
