Default Variable Rate Adjustment on Radio

Decreased the wheel travel on my radio(mt4) and calibrated the vr adjustment. Manual did not go into detail regarding what the variable rate actually does. Neutral position was still zero after I limited the travel. I assume that is a good thing. I continued to calibrate the radio by turning the wheel to the stop both left and right and storing the measured data. Hope that is the correct procedure even when my neutral position was still zero after limiting the wheel's travel. I made sure that the values of left and right were the same when I adjusted the travel.
Did not mess with throttle variable rate but wondering if I should adjust. Neutral is currently zero but full throttle and full brake are different. Previously, I adjusted the trigger forward for comfort. Should I run throttle calibration too.
