I do not have confidence in a PUFFED lipo. not worth the risk dont care how it performs DANGER Danger..Trash b4 u see smoke in ur sleep...

there was a video of a guy using a hobby knife to vent the cell and push the gas out. Then he sealed it with hot glue. I will never try that, lol. And yeah my confidence is low on these packs. I am running low on packs to try. Stock is very competitive here and i cant run crap packs. I tried and it sucked, lol. turnigy fade way too fast, promatch and protek use IP lipo cells and they puff like the ones in the pic. I am debating the new orion 4500 pack. But IMO Orion cells have always been over priced. plus, I would need to wire everything up for 4mm again. Not really hard.... but still. these high cap packs just puff because the cells fill up so much of the case. I have had SMC packs puff in the mail to me.

But what i need to do with pack having a bit of chemical smell? No puffing, just smell. Pack is used only for CompHeat, so no big amps or any physical damage

Chemical smell doesn't sound good perhaps one cell casing has been damaged?

Pack looks well, no visible damage seen. I'll check IR, guess it gonna be sign of problems.

yeah, its an IP lipo. 4800 mah. same as the protek and some other brands.

At the club where I race at they have a joke about IP lipos. IP= I Puff.:p
As it so I happens I have 4 older IP 3800 lipos that do have some minor swelling but they still run good.

IR is 5-5-2. THis pack spent all day near opened window, so smell almost disappeared

If you can smell it the pack is not fit to use. It is asking for disaster, not sure how much "more" it would take to go from being able to smell to having to put it out... I would dispose of that one. Not worth burning the house down or even the much smaller issue of having a flame out in the chassis.
